On Monday morning, Ronald Ramos, alias Abdul Rackham, a former member of the Manila-based terror group the Rajah Solaiman Movement, told ABS-CBN News correspondent Jay Ruiz that he had surrendered to the government and worked for a special operations group of National Security Adviser Norberto Gonzales along with members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-National Capital Region Command from 2004 to 2006 and was tasked, among other things, to conduct reconnaissance of Metro Manila malls and report the easiest targets and entry points to plant explosives. Among the malls he reported to his superiors was Glorietta II.

In his difficult and mumbled speech, the effect of a stroke, Rackham described his other tasks such as liquidation of targets or what is known as “extra-judicial killings” assigned by the special operations group he worked with. I expected the morning newspaper the next day to elaborate on the interview; to my surprise, not a single significant broadsheet carried the story on the Internet or in print. By any standard of journalism, this is a huge and sensational story even for the sake of argument there is a suspicion of a hoax behind it. The Philippine press has given a lot more space to much less important subject witnesses such as Mawanay, Mahusay, Zuce and others.

I called up several veteran journalists, including the most credible reporter who has been at the center of news scoops on the Abu Sayyaf, on Janjalani and a host of other terrorism stories; it is someone who’s lived with the Muslim rebel groups. All were in agreement that the Rackham story by itself merited a front-page story, and at the very least a lower-fold story; but there was none on Tuesday morning. It was then I became absolutely certain that Rackham has a story that’s got some of the highest people in the halls of power running scared and pulling out all the stops to stop the story.

The silence spoke louder than words; someone was imposing a news blackout and an aggressive media suppression of the story was on. From my my media colleagues, I learned that the reporter who broke the Rackham story was put under intense heat by higher executives of his media organization after the interview. I also learned from another reporter who will be making a special report on this in a major daily soon that Rackham started to spill the beans after a stroke and feeling his karma catching up. For two weeks, the PNP has shifted through the Glorietta 2 blast site and the Arroyo government shuffled from claiming that the terrorist Rajah Solaiman Movement did it and then now saying it is an industrial accident. Unlike the usual investigations where the picture should get clearer, the Glorietta II blast investigation is getting hazier and murkier — like all inquiries under the Gloria regime and its PNP or military investigators. A muddled picture ensued from the investigations of the Basilan Marines’ mutilation last August that happened under acting Gonzales’ watch at the DND, the same muddled fate seems to await the Glorietta 2 investigation.

In the Basilan massacre investigation, the advice to Sen. Rodolfo Biazon to restrain the inquisitiveness came from Executive Secretary Ermita himself, in reference to the witness that Senator Trillanes’ offer to present a witness to pinpoint the culprits — then the government’s investigation went into obfuscations alleging radio equipment that fouled up, then Air Force bombs that didn’t work and other alibis to waylay the inquiries. Rackham is the witness Trillanes promised to present and now it is clear that a witness indeed is ready and willing to give more details on the Glorietta 2 explosion, yet the authorities and the media are hedging, delaying, evading and suppressing.

Trillanes and his group are not babes in the woods when it comes to intelligence and investigative work. They are keenly aware of the potential of a kuryente, i.e. a false lead to damage their reputation. They’ve turned this witness inside out and found him credible. This witness has a report that will put Gonzales and Hermogenes Esperon Jr. on the spot, and now these two are moving heaven and earth to stop Rackham from giving his full testimony to the public. At this point, it is very clear that, as promised, Trillanes has the witness; now the people are asking what this witness has to say — and the press and media are being made to shut it out.

Rackham’s story jibes with everything we have hypothesized on the matter of “state-sponsored terrorism,” Glorietta 2 was one of the projects; the reconnaissance, planning and execution of the project was compartmentalized with operatives not knowing what others were doing or that their individuals roles were part of a bigger project; Gonzales was technically correct when he first claimed the Rajah Solaiman Movement was behind the Glorietta 2 explosion, he changed his story only after it boomeranged with Trillanes’ revelation of Gonzales’ state-sponsored terrorism. Rackham has more to tell. This has just begun.

If Mister Esperon can allow the stealing of individual votes during the 2004 Presidential Thieving Election which equates to millions of people’s mandate killed or murdered by the thieving Incorporated. It is not unlikely that the possibility of allowing the death of 11 eleven people and hundreds injured is also the handiwork of the same monster.

Could it be that the Makati blasts a diversionary tactic of GMA camp due to the mounting Quit GMA call? If this is the case, then GMA has succeeded indeed in diverting the public attention from her illegitimate regime in the expense of 8 people dead and hundreds injured on top of millions of losses.

It is unlikely that this is the making of the Al-Queda since the Philippines withdraw its soldiers off Iraq sometime ago now. And that Iraq is a non-issue at the moment in the Philippines.

And if it is the case that the Palace has something to do with this then the Filipino masses should rise up now, as in this very moment and march towards Malacanang and overthrow an illegitimate government as it is the legitimate thing to do. And those in the country side should rally in front of their municipal hall and ask their respective mayors and governors and all government officials to remove this President that they are supporting due to a paper bag colour brown that contains bundles of 500 or 1000 peso bills.

The people should question the type of bombing material used for this tragic event. Who would have access to those kinds of explosives?

Could it be that the Makati blasts a prelude to a Martial Law? Could this be the Grand Oplan of GMA and Ramos?

Filipinos, wake up. There are 88 million of you. Remove from the 88 million those hallucinatory 1 million who supposedly voted to make GMA win in 2004 then you still have the majority who think straight.

Filipinos should not wait for the Catholic Bishops to lead. In fact, they should be wary if the bishops lead this again. Just look back at the two power grab sponsored by these immoral bishops and Cardinals and you have a complete chaotic Zion called the Banana Catholic Republic of the Philippines. Edsa 1 and Edsa 2 are both a power grab which in essence makes the Presidents of these events illegal and all its decree illegal too. The bishops who completely lost their morals should start asking forgiveness to the Filipino masses whom they been fooling with their illogical and unscientific belief of a religion that gives them a very comfortable lifestyle in the expense of the poor people whose donation of a peso to their respective churches gives this white clothed bishops cars, and cakes, and cola and coins. And so, the poor amongst us, still hoping that the peso donation they gave will be enough, so that the Gods will listen to them as they have been indoctrinated to believe not in themselves but in the God above. Filipinos should start believing in themselves and not at this God this abusive Catholic Church bishops would like to impose in order to control your being.

Filipinos should take their lead in Bonifacio’s ideals and patriotism. Filipinos should take it to themselves to believe that even they can lead their country irregardless of their education. Leading is not about degree. It is about the need to make a difference and contribute to nation building. We have a Ph D in Economics illegal President but what did this illegal President contributed to the country? Her economics degree was used to polarise a country, prostituted it’s institutions like the Supreme Court and the military, made fools of the fools in the House of Congress and made a laughing stock of the inutile senators. Made heroes of electoral thieves like that of this AFP Chief they call Mister Esperon. Even a garbage collector can be President of the Philippines as the constitution clearly gives that right to every single Filipinos. It is stupid to think that only GMA can lead because of her education as has been proven that she in fact ruined the whole country. Yes, you garbage collector, you can be President of the Philippines and a good one at that provided you have the mandate of the voters and not the mandate of God i.e. the bishops. Yes, you factory worker, you can be the President of the Philippines provided you have the mandate of a clean election and not mandated by the power grabbing few bad men in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The few good men of this country like those who are now in detention are worthy to be our leaders and caretaker if they took over power so that Democracy can be restored. It is only through this that it can be restored.

At bottom, what all the cracks being made on US TV shows — such as Desperate Housewives that got the ire of the Filipino medical community in the United States, along with some others who wanted to get media mileage — really tells us is that our image abroad as Filipinos and as a nation is very negative.

If one looks objectively at the slurs made, whether they come from Jay Leno, a character in the Desperate Housewives TV show, or even from former US President Bill Clinton when he said “everyone is afraid of Gloria Arroyo,” which translates to Filipinos being such cowards to be afraid of a single bitch, a rehash of the old remark during Marcos’ time, when it was being said that there are 35 million cowards in the Philippines and one son of a bitch, one must perforce to ask: Why would such slurs occur, if not because of what had occurred or is occurring in this country.

So Teri Hatcher, as the character Susan Mayer, says she wants to see the diploma of the nurse first, because she wants to make sure it doesn’t come from some med school in the Philippines.

Why would that remark even be made, if there was never a hint of some cheating scandal in the Philippine nursing exams?

Incidentally, it is quite silly of one grandstanding lawyer in the US who was reported to have passed on counterfeit bills in a supermarket, to insist that the producers should come up with a show where Hatcher is to apologize for the “racial slur” just as it is stupid of some of our members of Congress to call for a boycott of the TV show to bring down its ratings.

It is stupid because the ratings game concerns the US public, not the Philippine viewers. As for the Filipinos in the US, if they are nurses and doctors, their schedules will hardly permit them to watch Desperate Housewives. Others wouldn’t even bother. There is doubt that the Filipinos abroad are that united.

There is no question that the remark hurts the nation and even hurts more the Filipino doctors and nurses in the US who are no doubt competent, accomplished and even admired by their American patients and hospital officials for their hard work. But truth does hurt and it can hardly be denied by Filipinos, here and abroad, that there have been too many “med” or nursing schools in this blighted country that are “fly-by-night” establishments and utterly substandard nursing schools that should have been closed down by the government a long time ago. Neither can it be denied that there was a well-publicized leakage in the nursing exams in this country where massive cheating was uncovered.

It is fact that those nursing graduates who took the board exams were rejected for jobs abroad and had to undergo another nursing test to qualify for those jobs abroad. So why the beef about the slur on med schools in the country when there is certainly more than a grain of truth to that statement? And doesn’t cheating figure in this country? Why, we have as the prime example Gloria Arroyo, who cheated not once, but twice, to become president.

This is what Filipinos here and abroad should be indignant about — being governed by a cheat who is moreover a liar and and a certified thief, as there can be no denying the fact that she stole the vote, and even stole the sovereign will of the Filipino people through her naked power-grab.

So why aren’t our congressmen and senators who denounced the producers of Desperate Housewives for the slur, not denouncing Gloria, the biggest cheat?

It is she who has brought this nation and its people too much shame. Filipinos go abroad to seek the most menial jobs, for their families back home to survive. We are now known as a nation of domestics.

To escape poverty, doctors set their sights lower and take up nursing, to be able to find good-paying jobs abroad, because there are no jobs for them in this country under Gloria.

Teachers leave the country to become househelps and even take all the abuses, physical and verbal, from their foreign employers. And yet there is Gloria, encouraging Filipinos to leave the country, since she and her government bank on their remittances to keep the economy afloat.

It isn’t flattering or pleasant to any Filipino, to hear such slurs, but the truth must also be faced that there are questionable med schools in this country, just as there was cheating during the nursing board exams. And that is a truth that cannot be hidden.

As for Jon Stewart’s “slut” slur on Cory Aquino, the mistake made was that the tag was pinned on the wrong president.
